Healthcare

HEALTHCARE: Being the largest economy in the world, United States spends over 2.8 trillion dollars on healthcare alone per year. This translates into an average of over $9K spent per person. Healthcare is becoming increasingly expensive, so while healthcare providers, hospital chains, pharmaceutical companies & other service providers make millions of dollars in profits, consumers struggle to pay for their medical costs. Just for example, on average, a hospital stay for one day costs $2, 220, and this is increasing each year. Sadly, the rise in healthcare costs has left over 46 million people with no health coverage. We can’t blame the people for not having health coverage, because the United States spends more on health insurance than Japan, Germany, Spain, China, Brazil, France, Italy, the U.K., Canada, and Australia combined.

Small things such as buying generic drugs, instead of pharmaceutical ones, could possibly lower health care costs, but half of America uses pharmaceutical drugs. In fact, it is estimated that $280,000,000,000 was spent on pharmaceutical drugs last year alone in the United States.

After a long drawn battle, Obama Care has been implemented to help address these issues, especially to provide a cost-effective health care plan for low-income families, but the reality is that there are as many people who still oppose it as are in favor it. This is despite of the fact that the program has been successful in some states. Healthcare costs that keep rising coupled with a lack of proper health coverage for millions of people still continues to be a serious problem and is likely to stay until some of the underlying fundamental issues are addressed to their core.
